A fantastic story, Sauvik! I didn't know you were so good. I have marked out some of the outstanding lines that grabbed my attention.

"an angel in his eyes"
"the poison"
"mind’s canvas"
"He stopped believing in Gods." Emphatic ending to a para.
"But yes, today’s sun did rise, but at a heavy price." Nice continuation

There were more, but these were truly great.

As for jumps, yes, you have made use of dates for that. That is good, but I would have preferred some common thread in the story to join the different parts.

I mostly make use of memory for that. That way you can freely go from present to past to any event in history and then back to the protagonist.

That reveals the characters and also moves the plot forward. Another advantage of using memory is that you can write the story in first person, which is very much in fashion because it affords maximum intimacy with the characters (and today's trend is of being personal because of the net etc. You will notice that even in newsletters and blogs)

In this particular story, you may, if you like, show the communist close up. Let the reader see him, see his struggle, his sacrifices; include events that show how hard his life was. Give particular instances from his life so that the reader can create a picture of that in his mind.

Ah! I've given too much advise. That is what happens when I start talking on writing. Anyways, you take care Sauvik and I'll read more of your works. I see many new entries.

Bye!!
